La Scala theater, 2010 calendar

More than a theater, an icon. A demonstration of Milan's unbreakable bond with the expressive power of the opera, the ballet and classical music.
It is named after the Piazza della Scala and was initially commissioned by the Empress Maria Teresa between 1776 and 1778.
Rebuilt and renovated several times, the theater now seats over 2000 theater-goers in the galleries, boxes and stalls.
The temple of opera has been graced with the likes of world's leading opera singers such as Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Callas and Placido Domingo and the most talented orchestra conductors like Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado and Georges Prêtre, who have left their indelible mark on the Scala, making it's Opera and Ballet season the event of the year.
